Trustees

We currently have 8 trustees working for the Make a Difference Group. We all come from different professions and bring a variety of skills and experience to the charity. However we all share a passion for education and are working to help to improve literacy levels in Burkina Faso.

I have lived in Milltimber since moving up from London in 1987. I joined MAD in 2002 when my wife and I started to raise funds for MAD Tam’s Hut in memory of our youngest son Thomas who died after an accident.

I have always appreciated the importance of education and was delighted to be invited to become a trustee in the MAD group & get an opportunity to work to improve people’s lives in West Africa.
Lesley MacLennan
I have been living in Milltimber with my husband and 2 sons for twenty years and was one of the founding members of the MAD charity. I currently work as a Senior Marketing Officer at the University of Aberdeen where my main focus is on student recruitment. I am also an experienced primary teacher which accounts for my interest in the education of young people. The whole family are involved in Mad, particularly my husband Graham.

I have lived in milltimber with my husband since 1987 and we have brought up both of our daughters here. I work as a Psychiatric nurse and currently manage an Inpatient Ward for adults with eating disorders. Although not a founder member, I have been involved with the Mad Charity since its early days.

Trustees have already visited Burkina Faso, in 2003, 2006 and 2010, as have 3 members whose family have given particular support to the centre in Doundoudougou.  These visits were an opportunity to meet our contacts for the first time, evaluate progress to date and to understand and discuss future needs. Click here for photos. Anatole and Marguerite are totally committed to ensuring that our funding is used appropriately and we consider ourselves fortunate to have such loyal, trustworthy contacts. They accepted an invitation to visit Milltimber and in August 2008 they spent a week meeting trustees and members and seeing something of  Aberdeen and the surrounding area. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss the way forward in Burkina Faso as well as a great chance to get to know each other better. A good time was had by all inspite of inclement weather!
